Creative Pathways is a is a partnership between engineeredlearning.co.uk and Derby City Council that enables young people from across the city to enhance their design and fabrication training through a creative learning programme. It is aimed at young people who are engaged in public realm solutions and creations in the form of "Engineered Artworks". All the work is funded by developers, sponsors with support from local communities to help develop the local identity of their place.

Design Process
Creative Pathways students learn a positive approach to design that is creative, innovative and efficient leading to better quality design solutions long term. This method of working involves direct building and testing of ideas whilst training in welding and fabrication. It is based upon standard art and design practice and processes that reflect real public realm and fabrication issues.
This creative approach is fundamental to 'innovation' has five main strands:
A ‘can do’ attitude.
To understand and empathise with people and place
‘Learn to fail’ - Start with lots of ideas, begin building early, test, learn, discard, move forward.
Collaboration and Creativity - Engage stakeholders at the earliest moment
Problem recycling - Build and test ideas & prototype early to test and modify.
Creative Pathways is integral to several public art schemes across the city. The full story of Creative Pathways is found in the list of 'Projects' in the top bar.
