In 2013 ceramic artist Timothy Clapcott was invited to create an artwork for Speakers Corner in the Derby Market Place. He collaborated with Artist Arnold Pollock to produce an inter-active artwork that can be accessed through QR (Quick Response) codes, and this involved taking video clips of members of the public “Speaking” and sculpt-sketching a representation of the interviewee’s head.
Each sculpture was then crafted into a ‘head’ to be installed as part of the Speakers Corner artwork on the Derby Waterfall. The video footage was uploaded onto a web-space where the public can access the footage by scanning the QR code which will be placed at each individual head. One Tag for each head will take you direct to a site where a picture of the ‘head’ will morph into a “Speaker” and their individual dialogue in the spirit of "Speakers Corner".
At the same time the artwork was created Free WiFi was also installed in the Market place for a full inter-active experience.
The Speakers Corner annual event celebrated the installation of the artwork
